Objective: Students distinguish canonical doctrinal authority from the contextual use of other ancient sources.

Read: Luke 24:44-47; Romans 3:1-2; Jude 14-15

Opening: Place three labels on the board: Scripture, Historical Witness, Useful Context. Ask whether one source can be useful without occupying the same authority category.

Say:

Luke 24 shows Jesus reading His mission through Israel’s recognised Scriptures.
Romans 3 says the Jewish people were entrusted with God’s oracles.
Neither passage is a complete sixty-six-book table of contents.
The project uses the Protestant canon for doctrine while allowing other ancient sources to clarify history, language, and reception.

Ask:

What three scriptural divisions does Jesus name?
What does Paul say was entrusted to the Jews?
Why does a quotation not automatically make a whole source canonical?
Which parts of a canon argument require historical evidence beyond one verse?
