Objective: Students explain why land possession and covenant ceremony did not remove Israel's need for faithful, enduring allegiance.

Read: Joshua 24:14-24; Judges 2:6-19

Opening: Ask: Can a person inherit a community, place, or tradition without personally living its commitments?

Say:

Joshua 24 renews covenant allegiance after Israel is established in the land.
The people's strong pledge is followed by Joshua's warning about the seriousness of covenant loyalty.
Judges 2 then describes a later generation and a repeating cycle of apostasy and temporary deliverance.
The land was a genuine gift, but possession did not mechanically transform hearts or secure generational faithfulness.
