Objective: Students compare the spies’ reports and explain how group fear became refusal to trust God’s promise.

Read: Numbers 13:25-33; 14:1-9

Opening: Describe two people seeing the same difficult task: one says difficult, the other says impossible. Ask what changed - the facts or the conclusion?

Say:

The spies shared many of the same observations about the land.
Caleb and Joshua included God’s promise and presence in their judgment.
The other report moved from real danger to a conclusion of hopelessness.
The peoples fear became a decision to reject the way forward and return to Egypt.

Ask:

Which facts did the spies share?
Where did their conclusions differ?
What did Joshua and Caleb add to the evaluation?
How can we respond to fear without pretending danger is small?
